Khust Castle

The national legend attributes its construction to robbers. The castle location prove this thought, because it is closed to “salt way” which run lengthways the Tysa river. The salt was produced there in times when Dacia was gained by Trajanom, the Roman Emperor in the II century AD. It was very profitable business there. During 16-18th centuries the Khust Castle was terrible and inaccessible complex of defensive, inhabited and economic constructions. But the thunder-storm on 3 of July, 1766 dealt to the castle a mortal blow. The castle was destroyed by a fire and since that time it was ruining fast. At present the Khust Castle is the romantic ruins.
